'Lefton
LiTeSavers' Program Steps Up Beacon Preservation Donations -
Historic American Lighthouse collection to raise funds for
major restorations by the American Lighthouse Foundation
As
devoted followers of the history and lore to the seas'
silent sentinels, Lefton lighthouse collectors continuously
express concern about ongoing efforts to preserve remarkable
real-life beacons for future generations. Lefton also shares
the concern that this proud tradition of courage in the face
of the capricious elements and the mystical aura that are
associated with lighthouses remain part of our nation's
colorful heritage that we all want to save for posterity.
"As
leading producers of illuminated porcelain and resin
lighthouses, both my mother and partner, Margo Lefton, and I
have pledged an increased commitment to lighthouse
preservation in 2000. Plans are underway for our largest
donation program to date via various projects of the
American Lighthouse Foundation spanning the country. This
highly respected volunteer organization is performing
"miracles" with funds only from the private
sector, so Lefton is mounting a major donation drive for
their worhwhile programs," says Steven Lefton Sharp,
Lefton CEO. Lefton Plans to provide major assistance by
pledging a pertcentage of each Historic American Lighthouse
sale for the invaluable work of saving as many beacons as
possible for posterity.
Plans
for Historic American Lighthouse introductions for 2000
include a masterpiece edition portraying the remarkable Cape
Hatteras Lighthouse relocation in 1999. This breathtaking
depiction of the tallest structure ever moved successfully
will serve as a major fund-raiser for "Lefton
LiTeSavers."
"We
will also continue our long-standing association with the
U.S. Lighthouse Society, beneficiary of donations from
Historic American Lighthouse Collection sales since the
collection's 1992 inception, Sharp adds. "Our designers
work closely with this non-profit organization to ensure the
authenticity of each of our replicas," Sharp adds.
